On Saturday morning the FGCU men's cross country finished in second place at the 24-team Disney World Cross Country Classic at the Wide World of Sports Complex. In the field of 214 runners, sophomore Argeo Cruz and redshirt classmate Gilbert Chemaoi led the Eagles, placing 7th and 12th, respectively, in the 8k event.
Taking seventh place in the field of 214 runners last Saturday at the Disney World Cross Country Classic at the Wide World of Sports Complex, FGCU men's cross country sophomore runner Argeo Cruz earned the program's first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference Runner of the Week honor, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
For the second straight weekend the FGCU cross country teams will travel to Orlando, Fla., this time competing at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge on Friday evening. In their final tune-up before the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the women's team will begin the 6K event at 6 p.m. with the men's 8K race to follow at 6:45 p.m.
Running at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge on Friday evening in Orlando, Fla., the FGCU men's cross country team took second place in the 12-team field. Helping the Eagles to their second consecutive second place finish at the 8K event was redshirt sophomore Gilbert Chemaoi and freshman Ryan Stafford who took 10th and 13th, respectively.
With the Atlantic Sun Championship just a day away, fourth-year men’s and women’s cross country head coach Cassandra Harbin is this week’s guest on the latest “Eye on Eagles” feature by WINK-TV that will air during this Saturday’s morning broadcast. The interview will run sometime between 6-7 a.m.
The FGCU cross country teams will close the 2011 season with a trip to Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday to compete at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, hosted by Belmont. The men's 8K race will begin at 11 a.m. ET followed by the women's 5K event at 11:45 a.m. on the Vaughn's Gap course.
In the final competition in the fall season, the FGCU men's cross country team ran to an eighth place finish in the field of 10-teams at 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, hosted by Belmont on Saturday morning in Nashville, Tenn.
With the announcement of the inaugural Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team on Thursday, sophomore FGCU men's cross country runner Argeo Cruz was tabbed with one of three unanimous selections to the team.
Representing the Green and Blue for the first time at the Division I NCAA South Regional, FGCU men's cross country runners sophomore Argeo Cruz and redshirt classmate Gilbert Chemaoi, and women's runners junior Barrie Cohen and sophomore Kelly Perzanowski will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday. Hosted by Alabama, the men's 10K event will get underway at 10 a.m. with the women's 6K to follow at 11:15 a.m. from the Harry Pritchett Cross Country course.
Heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday to compete at the NCAA Division I Cross Country South Regional hosted by Alabama, redshirt sophomore Gilbert Chemaoi and classmate Argeo Cruz represented the FGCU men's team for the first time at the 10K event held at the Harry Pritchett Cross Country Course.
